A Kolkata-based pandal producer will make the reproduction in the city’s Model House region.

Convenor of Mitro Sangho Durga Puja council, Vinod Tewari ‘Dalu’, said: “With such a lot of promotion around Smash sanctuary that is coming up in Ayodhya, we figured it would be befitting to set up a pandal that would be a carbon copy. The pandal will be 80 feet high, he said, adding that almost 3,000 bamboo, 3,500 meters of material from Surat, 150 kg iron nails, 2,000 bits of thermocol and 150 liters of paint will be utilized in the making of the pandal.

Nitesh Tewari, general secretary of the Puja Samiti, said: “Upwards of 75 workers from West Bengal are working constantly to complete the work by September 30. The work started in August.”

Asim Matya of Kolkata Bloom Workmanship is setting up the pandal. He is likewise making a colossal pandal in Jankipuram which is an imitation of a proposed tallest sanctuary of Vrindavan.

Laid out in 1975, the Mitro Sangho Durga Puja board of trustees of Model House has called ladies from West Bengal to play the ‘dhaak’, a conventional Bengali drum.

“Three men and three ladies dhakis from North 24 Parganas of West Bengal are coming for the puja at this pandal. Typically, the men play dhaak. This year we have roped in ladies too for the reason,” said Tewari.
